It appears the Florida TAC has recommended approval of the proposals for CO Alarms to be included in the FBC/FRC for the 2007 code change cycle.

NFPA 720-05 will be adopted as the approved standard.

CO Alarms requirements will be added in section 907 of the FBC, R313 of the FRC, M1305.1.5 of the FRC, and 306.7 of the FMC.

Here is what Section R313 will look like:

R313 SMOKE AND CARBON MONOXIDE ALARMS

R313.1 Smoke alarms. [Renumber existing R313.2 to R313.1.2]

R313.2 1 Carbon Monoxide Protection: Carbon monoxide alarms or detectors shall be installed in all dwelling units in accordance with NFPA 720. Such devices shall be listed by the appropriate standard, either ANSI/UL 2034, Standard for Single and Multiple Station CO Alarms or UL 2075, Gas and Vapor Detector Sensor, according to the installation.

R313.2.1 Power Source: In new construction, alarms shall receive their primary power from the building wiring when such wiring is served from a commercial source. Such alarms shall have battery back up.

R313.2.2 3 Combination alarms: Combination smoke/carbon monoxide alarms shall be permitted if each meets the applicable UL standard.
