Has anyone had any issues with the operation of co detectors at low ambient temperatures. I am preparing an estimate for a non heated 5 car garage and the local Fire Department is requesting a co detector to start an in line exhaust fan system to evacuate the carbon dioxide. I have heard from one supply house that co detectors have low temp limitations but i havent been able to confirm. Any thoughts?

This is very common here in MA and they do not mean using 'home style' CO detectors.

You use remote detectors (that have internal heating) conected to a control panel that can activate the fans and provide alarm if the fans do not remove the CO.

Here is an example of such a sytem.

These sytems are not cheap, I hope you included one in your bid.

Bob, do you have a problem with low temps? I noticed the operating temp range on one only went down to 32 deg. Do they make low temp detectors?

That was a maker I found doing an Internet search as just an example I do not believe I have ever used that company.

I can not remember the maker of the systems we have done.

The detectors we use look more 'industrial' than the ones in the link.

The ones we use could put up with a baseball bat attack and I am sure they were suitable for our New England temperatures as I recall them being internally heated.

If you look around a below ground public parking garage you should see detectors generally mounted at about 4' on some of the columns

Thanks Bob

The sheet metal company is supplying the "system". so i did not have to include it. I left wiring it out of price because of lack of info from both the builder and the tin Knocker.
Thanks for the link
