Ohio Govenor Strickland has signed an emergency order to temporarily rescind the 2008 NEC and revert back to the 2005 NEC, effective immediately.
This order effects 1, 2 and 3 family dwellings. It will be in effect at least 90 days in which time a commitee will be formed to look in to the 08 code and reccommend to the OBBS and a public hearing will be held. On which to keep the NEC 2005 codes or go back to the 2008 NEC. Or to amend the 08 code to omit articles. Articles they may omit are expansion of the AFCI, Tamper resistant recepticles, Weather resistant recepticles, Drilling through joices in crawl spaces, and include exception to the GFCI requirements.

I am thrilled to see Ohio leading the way towards different codes than the rest of the country. What happened to that guy (in some thread) that was going to start his own code book? Maybe Ohio should look into that. They could form a coalition with some of the other great states that push the envelope, and lead us into . . .uh, lets see, . . . the nineteenth century (?)

:)grin: )
