Code article for AFCI

I need the article that tells what needs AFCI protection on single family dwellings.
I ask because I remember reading on this forum that garage door opener receps require GFCI protection and the local inspector I spoke with last week corrected me and stated they require AFCI protection.

I just looked over that section (2008) it does no list garages.

Yep, no afci needed in the garage just GFCI

I thought your area was still under 05' or 02' that would mean you don't need to gfi the garage door outlet either.

You are correct. Im just trying to make myself aware of what might be enforced.

As far as AFCI's go, any motor you can keep off an AFCI the better. I can just imagine how pissed off the home owner would be when every other day his garage door caused the AFCI to trip.
