I am going to be installing electrical system for a woodworking cabinet shop, 34,000 square feet.
The customer just purchased an existing building that had metal fabrication shop so there is existing 120/208 volt and 277/4820 volt panels throughout the facility.
This woodworking cabinet shop will have 2 dust collection systems; one strictly for the saws, sanders, laminators, equipment etc and another for general open area dust within the production facility. My understanding is that the normal operation of this facility the dust collectors will always be running if any equipment is on or any person(s) are in the building.
My question is what would the classification be for this facility be according to NEC….Class 2 division 2, Class 3 or ???
Do equipment connections, fusible disconnect switches, light fixtures have to have a certain classification / type?
There are existing receptacles at 48" around the perimeter walls in 4 square boxes with industrial covers, will these meet code or do these have to be installed in a Nema rated enclosure?
Thank you for your input
