been reading the code, 2005 NEC 406.8 (B) WET LOCATIONS .

It looks like (2) (b) of that section could be interpeted to conflict with (1) concerning weatherproof covers. It doesnt refer to it as an exception, so I wonder what was their (CMP) intent on this.

They do not conflict.

406.8(A) applies only to 15 and 20 amp 125 and 250 volt receptacles.

406.8(B) Applies to any receptacle that is NOT a 15 or 20 amp 125 or 250 volt receptacles.

If you install a 15 amp 125 volt receptacle 406.8(A) applies.

If you install a 30 amp 125 volt receptacle 406.8(B) applies.

Bob, he stated 406.8 (2) (b)
and 406.8 (B) (1) I think.

Perhaps it was supposed to be 406.8(B)(1) and 406.8(B)(2)?

I am really not sure.

Oh and BTW Bon Scott RULED.:D

Brian's OK, and Bon was really before my time but Bon seemed like he was born to be the front man of that band.

If you meant 406.8(B)(2)(a) & (b) then no they don't conflict, If you are not going to be around then it needs an in-use cover and if you are going to be there then disconnect it, you can use a regular Bell cover.

And if you meant what Bob said, then I agree with Bob.

Yes it was 406.8(B)(2)(a) and (b). I see the distinction now. most 'portable tools' are 125v 15 or 20 amp cords. But obviously they are talking about those that are NOT 15 , 20 amp 125v.

That is correct.
