Code crazzzy about pools and spa sub panels

The code states that all pool equipment must have a copper egc at least #12 or larger. However, if a pool or spa breaker terminates in a sub panel that is fed with ser cable: the ground from the sub panel is derived from the main panel via aluminum conductors. So the question is. Can you terminate a pool or spa in a sub panel fed with aluminum wire? :shock:

In reviewing 680.25(A), exception, I believe that is legal.

I don't see a requirement for the EGC to be copper; but it is required to be insulated (680.25(B)). The exception to (A) relieves you of this, IMO.

The branch circuit(s) EGC is required to be copper by 680.21(A)(1).
