I am looking through my old school tests to get questions for my exam study and I am stumped on some. Help me if you can and tell me where and how you found the answer.

Which of the following can be direct burried with out protection?
NM, NMC, SE, UF

Think about what each abbreviation stands for. It spells out the answer.

Look up each in your code book - you will find the answer there.
(Hint - Chapter 3)

There is a reason that a lot of circuits get reclassified to Class 1...The answer is in the class 1, class 2, class 3, section of the NEC.

I read through class 1 remote control circuits and I dont see the exact answer, I find things close but not exact

You're using one of those wiring methods for C1 control circuits?

As I said, start by looking up each wiring method listed and looking at sections nnn.10 and nnn.12.

what is nnn.10 and nnn.12? I dont understand I normally hear chapter or article or section

The 3-digits of the appropriate article. The NEC uses parallel numbering, so the article number is nnn, and the .10 and .12 are the Uses Permitted and Uses Not Permitted.

Jeff,

I just checked, you need to look more carefully...in 725. It says Insulation on conductors shall be suitable for xxx volts. in the 05 NECH. in my 08 NEC it reads These circuits shall not exceed xxx volts What say you?

Typically we at the forum don't answer homework questions for you.

Instead why don't you give us the question and then tell us what you came up with for an answer and we will let you know if you got it right.:)
