Is a exhaust fan permitted to be installed in a bathtub/shower wall at the height of 6'?
The question is relating to installation of a bathroom exhaust fan installed in the confines of the bathtub/shower area. The bathroom in this case restricts the installation and the customer wishes the fan to be on the wall about 6' above the floor inside the bath/shower. Of course the obvious concern is the danger of someone touching the fan while in water. Particularlly of concern if the fan malfunctioned and became energized somehow.

You can put a non gfci protected wall sconce in a shower stall ,..I don't see why an exhaust fan would be more threatening ...

Welcome to the forum.:)

Check with the manufactures instructions for any area prohibitions or other requirements for installing this fan in a shower area.

The 6' measurement just sank in ,..that is also a common min. height for shower heads ... could be an issue

How about one of these

Most are UL listed for installation over a tub or shower on a GFCI circuit only.

I have yet to see one that doesn't have that requirement. . You might also have a limitation on orientation. . It might be required to be installed facedown on a horizontal surface. . And it definitely needs to be listed for wet locations where subject to shower spray.
