Trying to determine if the proper sizing of the ampacity for 4/0 and larger MULTICONDUCTOR cable for use in a ventilated cable tray assuming single layer installation of the cables and not exceeding the tray width is to use Table 310.16 for ampacity of the individual conductors of the MULTICONDUCTOR cable? If so does the grounding conductor have to be counted or can it simply be on top of the phase conductors?

Or are MULTICONDUCTOR cables 4/0 larger required to have 1 diameter between cables?
