Nowhere. On the other hand, it isn't prohibited by the NEC, but may be in ASME standards or similar.

I don't know of any section that states you can not do so, and as, for the most part the NEC is a "permissive" Code, unless it's stated you can not do so, then it is allowed. 300.11 states raceways shall be securely fastened inplace and if that can be accomplished, I see no problem, especially if the raceway is connecting components associated with the duct.

AFAIK, the only NEC requirement for ducts is regarding in ducts [ref: 300.22], not on [the outside of] ducts.
