Are there any LED retrofits like the one linked below that have the prongs instead of the screw type socket?

If not would it be a code violation to replace the prong socket on a CFL recessed light to a screw socket?

Thank you,

Thank you,

Here are a couple of adapters: no rewire or replacement of socket, 2nd one just use that base on the halo you reference direct plugin.

I would just splice the adapter cord on to the existing wires feeding the CFL socket. Technically the grounded conductor should be white. You need to bypass the ballast anyway so you could either replace one of the existing wires or just mark one white and not worry about it.

Some older retrofit kits came with a pigtail designed to be connected to the old socket wires.

Using a manufactured socket adapter to make the conversion to LED is one thing.
Bypassing the ballast to operate a line voltage LED retrofit is another.

In most cases bypassing the ballast to run a retrofit LED lamp nulls any type of manufacturer's warranty if any, and, put the responsibility of any future issues in your hands.
