Fooled ya, this is really the Fridays Picture thread. Started demo at another school yesterday and this caught my eye. This is the MV primary coming in from POCO. Note the color code. Building is 5 years old and I would expect to see 1, 2, and 3 rings of yellow tape on these. Also I have never seen or installed these in 3 separate conduits. We stub up one 5" at the base of the pole and POCO puts a protective shroud around the conductors going up the pole. I would think that this arrangement would allow rain water to flow into the transformer 20' below.

I also find this interesting. The RMC is bonded to a grounding electrode. Think this will clear a fault in the conduit? Sure hope they used bonding bushing at the stub-ups in the tranny. BTW this is at Campbell Dr. and US 1 in Homestead Fl.

Well nice picture Chris that cable looks like florida power underground burial stuff its got a shield in it so your grounding bushings are not needed .

If thats a ground tap of the three shields of each cable A B C up on that pole ?

Ive always seen them just install a plastic or fiberglass cover over the hv feeders on a pole thats a odd pipe job .

Their ground wire is just waiting to get hit by the weedeater and lawnmower. It's not that hard to run it up behind the conduits and dig a short trench over to the rod. Lazy...

Well Cow you dont understand thats save the grass cutting .

High voltage will burn grass or weeds when it makes contact so its a time saver !

Random (what else?) thoughts:

The bare conductors in the first pic remind me of neon tube wiring.

Shielding apparenly prevents induction issues, I see.

Concrete pole; is the rebar bonded?

Do we know if the conduit is metal the whole length underground?
