Guys, i'm just wondering why does the color of electrical equipments such as transformers, panel boards, and some switchgear are mostly color gray...Is there a standard color for it? and if there is, what standard? thanks for your info..

Henry Ford said, "You can have any color of automobile you want.... as long as it's black."

Why gray? IMPO, it's about as neutral as you can get, and doesn't show dirt.

I can't image what would happen if we started offering 'designer colors' for all our switchgear. Just think.... we'd be carrying swatch samples in our pouches!;)

Most gray colored electrical equipment is ANSI #61 Grey.

It is a prety standard color. Touch up paint is readily available.
