I don't have need for a color printer very often and the last three have had the ink dry up in the heads. No amount of cleaning helps. I take pictures of existing control layouts but various shades of grey via laser printer are not much help when trying to explain or troubleshoot later. Any ideas other than buying another $89 printer each time I need one. I hate to spend more when it may just dry up to.

Kinkos or Staples.

Put your pictures on a USB flash drive and they will print the images directly from your drive.

You *might* also be able to simply use the media storage device (XD card, SD card, etc) that is on board your camera.

I once bought a nice Epson all-in-one for about $300. Less than a year later the heads clogged up and there was nothing I could do to fix it. I've since heard that Epson's in particular are notorious for this. Then I got a nice Dell all-in-one when I bought a new computer. Again, something went wrong in less than a year, but I don't even remember what the problem was. My next printer was an $89 all-in-one from HP. I've had it about a year so I figure I'm ahead of the game. When it stops working I'll toss it aside and buy another $89 printer. I just don't think the pricier ones are worth the money so I don't see any other options.

If we are talking buying a new printer..

I just (7/17/08) bought a Brother MFC465CN for $69.99 @ amazon

....I know, the price NOW is $97.84 (down from $250). This replaced my 2 - 3 yr. old HP.

So how did I manage this?
Stumbled onto it at c|net's "The Cheapskate":
Print, scan, copy, and fax with network-compatible all-in-one, $70 shipped

The deal was at newegg.com but amazon had the same deal.

Subscribe to the feed and everyday it will update with a new "cheapskate" deal
