Where in the NEC does it say about putting tape on the last 6 inches of a wire and "making" it another color? For instance you have four wires that each have blue insulation and you want to mark them for your hot wires and ground. Thank you for your help. Sdivolike

110.15 for high leg marking
200.6 for the neutral (grounded conductor)
200.7 for use of re-identified wires in cables
210.4(B) for differing voltage systems in one building
250.119 for the grounding conductor, and
310.12 generally speaking

What kind of cable are you using?

What country is it being used in?

awwt, the question asked "Where in the NEC", so wouldn't that indicate a country (any country) that would be under the NEC.(International)

I would think the cable types would be in the NEC also.

You're right.

I'm still interested in hearing about the all blue cable assembly. Or, maybe it's just hypothetical. We shall see-- maybe :)

This question interests me and I am very interested in hearing more details behind the question. I sense there is more here than meets the eye.

Who said it was a cable assembly? :)

It does sound like this gentlemen is from a country that uses blue for the grounded conductor.

But if I remember a basic flexible cord from those country's would be yellow with green stripe, blue and brown.
