Heads up: if you own a business in Colorado, be sure to go to the state website and set up "secure business filing" and make sure you are set up for email notifications.

Long story short, in the past you needed a username and a password to submit forms and whatnot for a business. At some point that changed, and they didn't seem to tell anybody (I didn't get the memo.) Someone claiming to be me amended the address of my business on the state website for $10, and now I get to deal with business identity theft.

Securing your account takes 60 seconds, they snail mail you a PIN that shows up in a hurry, and then once again you would need a username and a password to attempt to submit forms to the state. If you haven't, get it done!

Governments can be so idiotic.

I moved once, and went to the local "Sec of State's office" to change my address. About a year later, I got a ticket for an expired registration. They sent the renewal notice to my old address.

Turns out, I had to change my address twice - once for my drivers license, and once for my registration. When I went back to change my registration address, the guy behind the counter said:

"Yes, we are completely separate departments, you have to change your address for both your license and registration. I don't know why people think we are the same department"

Well, it might be because you are both in the same building, you are both standing behind the same counter, and I think you are even using the same computer!!!

Besides, when someone comes in and says "I want to change the address on my license.", you might think to ask "Do you want to change it on your registration too?"

Sorry for the rant, and I know that was really minor compared to getting your business identity stolen. Hope you get it all straightened out soon.
