Hey guys,
I was wondering what your perferred method of installing lights on top of brick or stone columns is. I have seen and serviced many lights that had PVC stubbed out the top of the column with a pedestal mount (without a bottom) for the light screwed into the masonary. I also notice that arlington now makes a new box for this purpose with threaded hubs.

I have an installation coming up that is in the estimating stage, and I want to make sure i have a solid plan. I will also check with my inspector and see what he says.

I have posted links of a standard pedestal base and the arlington product i referenced.

Thanks!

I've always just did a stub up with a regular base simply because there wasn't really any other (compliant) choice. The Arlington product looks like a problem solver in that regard. I'm curious how else a fella would even do it compliantly.

One of the best trades sercets IS not to comment on the piece that is to be installed...

To me it seems that a few questions might come up about this structure as to what the design is, layout of the stone or brick work.

Its time to meet the mason, I always compliment the other trades for making me look good!
Ask them for ideas like sloping the crown of your column, or say angling the bricks, etc.

Maybe some nice new Bollard lights complimenting the other lights ?
OR - HEY an Add/alternate ...

Google is your friend you'll never be lonely...
