Combination AFCI

Sure it is a bad design. I once fed a subpanel from a GFIB and it was a nuisance for the owners, but they were all about cost, so that is what they got(and they were indeed told of it's potential problem). It fed a lot of outdoor yard outlets and a boathouse.

As for troubleshooting an install like this- troubleshooting 101 might tell me to turn off all branch CB's , then clear the breaker from it's tripped status, then turn BCB's back on one at a time until the subpanel feeder breaker trips again...?

All assuming they ever make a combo breaker for this app.

Now should we discuss the collusion of manufacturers and code legislation that got this junk required in the NEC to start? What a nuisance this has become for us.
