Combination circuits help needed!!

Hello. I am a first year apprentice. I am struggling with combination circuits and to find my values when I have a schematic drawing for a combination circuit. Could anyone help me understand when values are in parallel and when they are in series? In a dumbed down way for a first year to understand.

I can also recommend learning the method of superposition, for working with combination circuits with multiple power sources. It helps greatly simplify your work from algebra to just plug-and-chug arithmetic.
