I don't understand combo motor starters all that well hence this question but, we are upgrading a 7.5 hp motor to a 25 hp and the lead engineer is saying the thermal-magnetic breaker in the MCC cabinet will be replaced with a higher rated breaker and the NEMA 1 starter will be replaced with a NEMA 2.
there was mention of the client going with MCP and thermal overloads instead also and this came to light when I asked the question in this forum earlier, it was mentioned that you can't really do that because it voids the UL rating.
Well if you replace the thermal-magnetic breaker with a similar, higher rated, one won't that also void the combo starters UL rating? and also can't you replace this as an assembly (ie, remove from MCC bucket as one item) and replace it with a new one instead of item by item?? TY
