Hi, I am trying to interpret rule 210.12 (A) and I see that the following:
(A) Means of Protection. AFCI protection shall be provided by any of the following means:
(1) A listed combination-type AFCI installed to provide protection of the entire branch circuit.

What does "combination-type AFCI" mean here? Is it a breaker which is called "combination type AFCI"?

I am working on a renovation project where existing receptacles in the space are general type (not AFCI) so I am thinking to change the breaker (supplying that area) to be AFCI type to meet 210.12, but I want to ask if "combination-type AFCI" is a specific type of AFCI breaker?

Yes it's checks for either series or parallel types of arcs.

hi, NEC 210.12 (A) says all 120V 1ph 15A and 20A branch circuit supplying outlets and devices in dwelling units shall be protected by AFCI. Other than general receptacles, what is considered "outlets and devices"? For example, does kitchen equipment like refrigerator required to have AFCI?

It the electrical equipment gets power, it gets power from an outlet. The word device was added to include things like switches.
