It has been implied that we may want to use a single 3 phase breaker for 6 - 1/2 horse power motors. You will have to forgive me, I am setting this up for the first time. Is it reasonable to use a combinational motor starter, with proper overload protection for all of these motors?

Welcome to the forum:). Are you wanting to drive 6 motors from a single starter? If so, your installation would have to meet one of the exceptions set forth in 430.87. Also worth mentioning is that each motor would require individual overload protection if automatically started.

Thanks Jim. Thanks for the reference to exceptions in 430.87. They were helpful. I included the overload protection. Appreciate your thoughts
