Powder actuated fasteners are great and there isn't anything faster. There is also some specific OSHA rules and required training.

Our spec. normally prohibits them in concrete. I assume its because they can damage or crack the concrete.

I don't really know, but it seems like they might be a bad idea for precast panels?

The problem is usually lack of training which leads to the wrong tool, fastener, or powder charge.

There is a similar prohibition for a project I'm currently on. Severe limits on suspended loads (500lbm/50sq-ft).
