Re: commercial basement outlets

The NEC does not require GFCI protection of any basement receptacle outlets in commercial occupancies.

Re: commercial basement outlets

A GFCI receptacle is required within 25 ft for the servicing of HACR equipment. See 210.63
Also the receptacle is installed at an outlet.
And its only required to be GFCI for 15, and 20 125V outlets. So a 240 V air compressor outlet is not required to be GFCI

210.63 does not require GFCI protection.

210.8 does.

Painting the two with the same brush is wrong. A FPN reminding you to look at GFI requirements is not a requirement to GFI-protect that outlet under all conditions. :)

George is correct. 210.63 requires the receptacle and may in some locations required to be GFCI protected.
I get confused as in Washington State we have a state rule that requires GFCI in any location required to be GFCI per 210.8(A)
