Looked at a comercial build out today in a warehouse suite that is 50' 100'. power is 277/480 I talked with the owner about only using a step down transformer for receptacle power to limit the cost of the transformer and panel I am thinking to supply 100 Amp panel for receptacle power and power all other equipment with the existing 277/480 225A panel. HVAC guy can use 277/480 and I was thinking to do all the lighting with 277. The build out of the office space is only 600 sf and it is for a landscaper the rest of the suite is dedicated to warehouse space. Seems to me that this is the most effecient method to wire this job. Another suite was wired completely with 120/208 after steping down and placing a 225A 120/208 panel. What are your thoughts?

I agree. Insulation is cheaper than conductor, and you'd save on both. Higher voltage = less current for same power.

I agree, IMO that is exactly the reason a 480Y/277 service was chosen.

It makes no sense not to take advantage of the highest voltage available.

I agree w/ all the above, check out the cost of the equipment needed to change to 120/208 @ 225A, then check 120/208 for 100A. To me its a no brainer, "that's may final answer". :D
