What are the NEC requirements for receptacle locations in a commericial building? I have of course found the requirements for residential but are commericial (in this case a small theater) mainly convinience or is there a code requirement for quantity and location?

Re: Commercial building receptacle locations

You only need as many as is specified of needed. The Code doesn't require receptacles for commercial buildings. :D

Thanks for the help Charlie!

I realized I should have posted this in the NEC forum

Re: Commercial building receptacle locations

I can't help but to think that the wiring in a theater should have been engineered. Are there prints for this job? Or does the appearance of very few receptacles on the prints puzzle you? My rule of thumb for commercial(if you believe in rules of thumb) is that no point anywhere be more than 50 feet from a receptacle. My reason being, commercial vacuums and floor buffers normally have 50 foot cords. Just my thoughts...
