I have Mike's Masters Intermediate DVD Library and I was watching the DVD concerning Commercial Calcs.
In this video Mike states that, when calculating the feeder/service conductor load you do not count AC equipment (motor) when applying the +25% of the largest motor load because in Art. 440 the +25% rule applies only to branch circuits. Mike says the A/C equip is 100% only.
Therefore, if you have no motor other than the A/C you do not have a "+25% of the largest motor calculation."
While Mike is more than likely correct I have a problem with this. My concern lies in the fact that every other exam prep book/course that I have used says that if the A/C motor is the largest then you do add 25% in the feeder/service load calculation. Tom Henry's book says this, Mark Shapiros DVDs say this, etc.
So the question of the moment is: What will the EXAM calc be based on? LOL.
I am taking the ICC Standard Master Exam next week and this has me curious because I will bet that whoever wrote the exam question will have BOTH answers...and, in his/her mind, only one of them will be correct.
BTW, I will be posting this on the ICC board and will be emailing Mike and a few others as well.
If this has been covered somewhere on this board, please post the link as I tried to search and could not find anything.
I thank everyone in advance for their replies.
