Does anyone have any thoughts on whether a commercial coffee maker, (6600W on 240/120V), would be considered a continuous load?
30Amp existing circuit. But new unit is 27.5A at design voltage. Thinking I may need to go ahead and up it to a 40?

A continuous load is defined as operating at maximum rated current for 3 hours or more. See if the manual specifies whether it does that or ask the manufacturer. I would guess Larry's right.

Good point. I know perking isn't 3 hours. I had not thought about the probability that warming is a lower wattage. But it almost certainly would be.

This machine WILL be brewing a lot. It's being bought just to fill carafes that will be delivered to offices and break rooms in the building. Not brewing and then holding until it sells. They have smaller units for that. But they have a small staff. There will undoubtedly be time between brews while carafes are changed, coffee is put in, etc. Given that, I think the existing 30A circuit should suffice. I'll probably throw an amprobe on it when it's hooked up just to confirm though.
Thanks!
