New kitchen and emt for all that is new. Gray area seems to be existing plugs in home where now dining room. Not bx. Tearing out walls big amount of time and expense. Owner advised to contact inspections dept. Will the total home need rewire?

Not all commercial buildings need to be wired with metallic raceways. Check and see what Type construction it is and read art. 334.10.


I would get a ruling from the local inspections department.

I agree with Dennis, this sounds like a question best posed to the local building department.

I did a remodel on a house to restaraunt several years ago. A very good chance the building is of a type V construction. Unless your local code is an issue, romex would be ok.
