I went to a restaurant the other day and they had 2 EF and 2 MAU units. They were on shunt trip breakers. The problem was the only way that the owners control these units and turn them on is to manually go to the panel and turn the breakers on and off daily.
It has been a a year and all 4 breakers are now bad withing the past 2 weeks they have each gone out.
The normal application that we do our hoods is tying them to a switch to control all of them through a contactor.
Does anyone have any idea of why all 4 would go out within 2 weeks? Is it just the fact that they had to flip the breaker on and off for a year everday? Or maybe is there something else that might cause the problem.
I am replacing the breakers tomorrow and installing a new switch to have them all come on at once versus going to the panel and still working with them shutting off with the ansul and leaving the EF on.

thanks for reading
