I need to connect a commercial Vulcan range, total connected 28.8 KW at 240 volts (single phase) I figgure this as 120 amps total connected load, the previous range was smaller and on a 100 amp circuit, I was planning on running a 150 amp circuit, am I correct?

As I see it 220.56 (2008) requires that one appliance to be calculated at 100%.

IMO it is not a continuous load and 1 AWG CU with it's 130 amp rating may be enough. I say maybe as you might need to make temperature adjustments. It stands to reason that this conductor may be operating in a much higher ambient temperature then 86 F.

Sounds like your good to go.

You could even use 1/0 AL if you wanted. MC comes in AL and can be run at 75C. You might be able go with AL SER but then your restricted to 60C (2008)

Providing this is not a commercial range being installed in a residential application, the demand factor will be 100% (220.56) AND if this range considered a continuous load, then I am not really sure how 210.19, 210.20 would apply because we don't know what type of material you are using.

Neutrals are a whole other issue.
