I'm writing on a job at a community college. The new plan shows to install a 125a panel near a sink. I'm trying to find in the code where this is mentioned.

I've found existing panels, mechanical room with mop sink, and residential issues on these forums that are similar but have not seen an answer to my instance.

Don't think a panel near a sink is a problem(240.24), as long as working clearances are met(110.26)

That is the only thing ive seen as far as a possible issue. My Inspector is making us move the panel because it is too close to the sink. I didnt think it was an issue but wanted to be sure I wasnt missing something. It isnt a huge deal as it is actually closer to the feed panel and hood control panel now. It also helps the GC out because now they dont have to fur out a niche for the panel because they originally wanted it installed in a firewall.

Being as the inspector stated that as the issue I wanted to see if there was anything that I was missing because of it being a school or commercial Kitchen. Thank you for the responses!

The panel can be adjacent to the sink. In commercial kitchens I have seen them be spec'd as a wet location type where wash down may take place but that still has nothing to do with it's proximity to a sink.

If he wants to call it a wet location, you will need more then a NEMA 1 cabinet, otherwise it can be there if arranged so there is 110.26 working clearance.
