Things not common knowledge to the average electricians that have a decent education in the field.
I would put myself in this category. I have learned a great deal of information from visiting this forum.
Probably twice more than I knew to start with .
What I didn't learn here since I started visiting here I have learned from investigating topics from this forum.
Just an example I thought I had a good knowledge of transformers and their protection. Until one post got me digging into the primary and secondary protection. There is a thread going now on this subject.
I knew some transformers had to have only the primary conductors protected with overload protection and others had to have protection in both sets of conductors the primary and secondary circuit. Had no idea why but if I wasn't sure I would ask someone.
This is the quote from a 2002 NEC hand book.
Section 240.4 (F) Transformer Secondary Conductors. Single -phase (other than 2-wire) and multiphase(other than delta-delta 3 wire) transformer secondary conductors shall not be considered to be protected by the primary overcurrent protective device.
Another, I didn't know a slashed rated breaker existed until I visited Mikes home page and played his free video about the 240 volt threephase high leg. Check out 240.85 of 2002 NEC.
I'm sure others have information that can be added.
Thanks :Ronald
