Communication Cable Installation

I would like to know if split loom corrugated flexible tubing is an acceptable installation method to separate communications cable such as Cat-5 Ethernet cable from other electric light, power and class 1 circuits routed in the same wire duct inside a control enclosure.

The NEC requires all communication circuits to be physically separated from other electric light, power and class 1 circuits.
 
What is the wiring method used for the power and lighting? Power and lighting cables are permitted in the same wire duct with CAT5 etc.

Are you trying to bring something that was already done up to code or trying to plan a future installation?

Can you be more specific as to the control enclosure you are referring to?
 
It porbably was innerduct just a different innerduct than you are used to seeing.

The bulk of Carlon innerduct you will probably see is Riser-Gard:

Riser-Gard is stiffer and has more of a dull orange color to it.

Then other times when innerduct is installed where it needs to be plenum rated, you will probably and should see Plenum-Gard:

The control enclosure houses a PLC contoller and IO modules. The PLC controller has an Ethernet port and CAT 5 cable that networks to other PLC IO. All panel wiring is routed in Panduit wire duct. Since communications cable is required to be separated from other power and class 1 wiring it needs to be separated by a barrier inside the wire duct. I have used ENT before but it requires fishing the cable through the tube.

Split loom would allow installation around the CAT 5 cable without having to disconnect it in an existing installation.

In many cases you can route these cables with a 2" seperation from the power wiring and be in compliance with the code rules.
