Does anyone know offhand where, if it exists, the code requirement for a telcom equipment plywood backboard to be either fire-treated, or painted with fire-resistant paint is?

The RCDD who sits across from me confirms that that is the standard practice, and believes it to be required by some code or other. But he could not cite the source off the top of his head.

My RCDD neighbor found an article that attributes the requirement to chapter 6 of the Uniform Building Code. I don't have that book handy, so I can't look it up to confirm the requirement.

I would love to know where that is! We mount a lot of telco boards and very few meet that standard.
But they will if I have a code reference.

Thanks, guys. Everything I have read here and elsewhere suggests it is only a standard, and not a code requirement. Good to know for later, but the time I spent looking for this and the time the contractor spent arguing about it would have paid for that plywood to be painted ten times by now. ;)

Perhaps not. :happyno: According to the article I mentioned earlier, that paint is not available in most hardware stores, and is much more expensive that your common household paints. :happyyes:
