Hey guys I have a communications center that has a request in for grounding means for equipment cabinets. This area has cat5 LAN, POTS, fiber, radio comm. equipment. I want to install a grounding buss bar and connect it to the electrical GES at the SD. This looks like the way to do it after looking through chapter 8 and article 250. Concerning the conductor sizing from the proposed buss to the GES at the SD I can only find reference to a minimum of #6 AWG. Just wanted to run this by you all and see if you agree. This is an existing building without an ISBT.

Often they might want you to follow a standard or guideline such as TIA-607-B or TIA?942 or J?STD?607?A?2002 or IEEE Std 1100 (IEEE Emerald Book).

This is supplemental to code required minimums.

Or you can go on line and down load Motorola's R-56 for grounding communication buildings and equipment.
