Communications Ground Rod

I need to install a communications ground rod for my cable internet provider and my satellite dish. I have purchased an 8ft 5/8 ground rod and #6 copper wire. I need to bond onto my water pipe (within 5 feet of house entrance) because I can't get anywhere near my service panel due to a concrete slab that has been poured around that area and there are no other grounding electrodes available.
My questions are...
1: Is this legal ( I believe it is but would like to check)
2: To get to the water pipe (There is really no other way to get to this water pipe) I have to run about 75 feet of #6 copper around the house and then enter the house for about 15 feet to get to the water pipe. Does this bonding conductor need to be protected or can I just bury it under a few inches of dirt? Also is this NEC legal?

Welcome to the forum.:)

What you are discribing is code compliant. As far as burial depth there is no NEC mandated burial depth for a grounding electrode conductor.
