SDS chisel tip in a hammer drill in hammer mode. ;) Big lock nuts - no problem. Like a really big beater screwdriver.... Big compression fitting same way. If the chisel tip is say a carbide and relitively sharp (instead of worn to a nub) it will bite in, and you can drive one flat away from you - then the next and so on.... This will be the tightest you ever get one of these.... ;) FYI it is load as hell..... Use some hearing protection.

I have used my bulldog with just a normal 1/4" bit on hammer mode only to tighten lock nuts. As you said, they will never be tighter, you have to be careful not to cut through the box. :D

Never tried it on compression fittings, I will keep it in mind.

I picked this up from Electure over on ECN several years ago - I scoffed at the idea until I tried it.

As for strap wrenches - the rubber ones stretch too much before you get it near tight - the nylon rubber coated - like the one Iwire posted work much better.
