This may be a bit premature but i am about to go out to look at several compresores that have failed over the last 6 weeks = 5 compressors

apparently the compressors are 35hp
for a/c units

can run in either direction

the first one tripped out the ground fault.
and one of them was taken apart and all 3 windings are burnt.

just looking for some early advice any help is appreciated

?? I was initially thinking surge suppressor???

Overload/undervoltage I am assuming prob 480V semihermetic. Do they have the correct external overloads installed if not internally protected.

If you can get the refrigeration techs involved, I would examine the suitability of the refrigerant and the superheat of the refrigerant control since this has a lot to do with cooling of the compressor by the returning vapor.
