Where in the NEC would I be able to find the information on what a compressor needs to operate a heat pump?:?
Can you clarify your question?
You are probably correct, because to operate an air-conditioner as a heat pump,a solenoid valve is required to reverse the flow of the refrigerant. The exact wording to the question is pprobly now correct but it asked what does a compressor need in order to operate as a heat valve?
The selections were *solenoid valve *heat valve *check valve *air valve I choose solenoid valve.:ashamed1:
While it is a solenoid valve, most heat pump drawings that I have seen have called it a "reversing valve" or a "heat valve".
This is not something that you would find in the NEC.
