Hello Everyone,

I have a quick NFPA code question about annunciator panels for raised floor computer rooms. Can anyone direct me to the code section that states that a local annunciator panel for the under floor smoke detectors is required to be installed inside the computer room or just outside the room? I'm having trouble finding this section in the code, and any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Cant answer your question, but it might be found in the IMC instead of the NEC........International Mechanical Code (IMC), or perhaps a specific NFPA section in the fire codes, your local ahj or fire cheif could help you..............Hope it helps........:)

There is no such requirement. This is an "Ancillary" device and it's location is at the owners discretion. It isn't in the building codes, fire codes, or NFPA standards. I have never seen a local jurisdiction adopt an ordnance which either specifies their use, or their location, although one might exist.

Usually these systems are provided as part of a fire suppression system, but not always. The standards for fire suppression systems (i.e. NFPA 2001, 12, 12A, and all the water based suppression systems) reference the detection requirements to be NFPA 72 compliant.
