Can I install a 4' section of cable tray, concealed, in a drywall partition? If so does it have to be solid tray w/ a cover, and being as it is covered for less than 6' do I have to derate my type tc cable?
Seems pretty clear. You can go through a wall or floor but not stay within it.Originally posted by bphgravity:
I do not believe you are permitted per Section 392.6(G) of the NEC 2002.
My guess - as long as you can access the cables you are probably OK. I would say putting a wall over the front side is unacceptable since you could not remove cables (at least easily). Putting it on the back side is probably Ok since you can still get at and remove (or add) cables without added difficulty.Originally posted by steve66:
Can I add another question: Can I cover the front side of a vertical section of ladder type cable tray with a wall? The back side (with the rungs) would still be open. In no, then can I turn the cable tray around and cover the back side?
