Anyone have the formula for calculating the amount of concrete for a trench in cubic yards?

Example:

500' trench
18" wide
6" cover over 3 2" conduits

Re: Concrete Calculation

(H/ft x W/ft x D/ft)/27 = (500 x 1.5 x .5)/27 = 14 cubic yards

Bennie, what do you do with the extra 4 yards, might be a bit too much for the work truck? :D

Dereck: It's hard to walk a transit mix truck at the proper speed for a 6 inch cover. Plus the cover may be from top of duct.

Most batch plants will supply a make up load when you run a bit short.

A standard mixer truck here, has a 9 yard barrell. The road weight limitation will dictate size of permitted load per truck.

R S Means Electrical Estimating book has a table in the back, which provides you with the amount of concrete required for various duct bank configurations. Maybe you can find an old copy on ebay or the used book sellers at Amazon.com. It sells new for about $100.
