I am upgrading a service on a 200 year old house. There is no municipal water supply so ground rods are the electrode of choice. The foundation is feildstone and the basement floor is dirt. they are pouring a footing around the inside perimiter of the basement and then a foundation on top of that. The stone foundation will be left in place. The new concrete will be on the inside to help hold the stone in place. Then a floor will be poured. This is not quite a real foundation per se but I am thinking of running #4 cu around the footing before the concrete is poured. Will this be an effective electrode?
