Hi
I was just given a job where I have to rough in a few concrete steps for step lights. These lights require a single gang devices box. I wanted to see what all products other electricians are using for this application, I have actual deck work experience however have not performed any concrete wall/vertical concrete rough in. Appreciate your help.

what is the point of the sand? Also are you using a specific concrete box, one that have some type of wings for mounting to the wood form? or are you using a masonry box with some type of a bracket?

why not just duct tape over top of them?

If there are no other holes and you trust the strength of the duct tape, go for it.
If some really thin liquid from the mix squeezes in the wet sand will at least keep it from sticking very well or filling the box.
And esthetically you avoid leaving the torn ends of the duct tape sticking out from the concrete.

As an inspector I failed many a stairs inspection. Make sure you want that on you before you pour that mud!

so are you guys using a masonry box for this what are you using to set the box in place or how are you mounting it to the wood form?
