Thank you very much. I'm not clear. Lead expansion as opposed to what? I see what options you posted but the material difference is what? Lead to steel? You can hang T-Rod directly from machine screw anchors correct?Lead expansion shields haven't been used for many years. I would send the engineer an RFI with current product information and ask him to choose a suitable product.
And yes, they require drilling into the concrete to install them.

What do you mean? You're not allowed to follow the manufacturer's instructions?

I really need the cheapest option. Labor rate is high here so a labor saving product would be great too. THanks.
What I was saying is that machine screw anchor leaves a female opening for something to thread into correct? There's other anchors that go into the concrete that leaves a male threaded sided sticking out for a coupling or nut etc. to thread onto?Thank you very much. I'm not clear. So can you thread a threaded rod right into a drop in anchor? No issues with that?Right. Look at the pictures.
This is why the engineer should have done something better than pasting boiler plate specs from 40 years ago.

I have, jam-nutted to drive it in. Not for hundreds of pounds. So can you thread a threaded rod right into a drop in anchor? No issues with that?
"Jam Nutted"??I have, jam-nutted to drive it in.
The images showing driven pins. What do you mean?
Wrenching two nuts together to lock them onto the threads."Jam Nutted"??

It's to support 12/2 MC cable and cat 6 cables.
They want the support to attach from slab unfortunately and not off any pencil rod etc.
Why. I thoought the Hilti nails where quicker. That's better for you. Now go to Caddy and select a hanger, then an anchor from HERE. I would recommend a caulk-in, probably for a 1/4-20 screw.
