Hello, good morning everyone. I have a question regarding an existing installation that I'm inspecting. It's set up as follows:

Condenser unit and air handling unit are connected in the same circuit.

The data for the Condenser Unit (CU) is: MCP 30A MCA 25A.
The data for the air handling unit is: MCP 15A MCA 5A.

Both are powered from a 50A circuit on the panel. The condenser unit has a 40A disconnect breaker next to it, but the air handling unit does not.

My question is, is this a violation of the NEC (National Electrical Code)? Should the air handling unit also have a disconnect breaker rated at 15A next to it? Also the condeser unit breaker have to be max 30A. I mentioned this to the client, but he says that the master electrician told him there is no violation. So, I'm looking for the specific NEC reference to send to the client.

I appreciate your help. Thank you.

Both units are required to have overcurrent protection not to exceed that shown on the nameplate.
You are correct with your analysis
{Art 440.22(C) for your condenser and 424.19 for your air handler)
