Conductor Description

Having trouble finding this nomenclature described online:

I have a conductor "Okonite 4 3/C 6 AWG compact CU"

What exactly is that saying?

Yes, I think it's multiple conductor cable. Im just not sure what the '4' describes.

The only confusing part to me is the “4”. Not sure what that means.

But it appears to only show up on Okonite’s MV-105 medium voltage (15-35kV) cable, and there is an “Okonite 5” variant as well. So it appears to be something along the lines of a brand labeling issue for Okonite.

Yeah, I was wondering if it was indicating (3) #4 and the #6 was ground. I may just call Okonite and ask. Tried searching Google with no luck

No, in their catalog they show “Okonite 4” on many different cable configurations. There is never any description of what that means, it just shows up on the pictures of the actual cables.

Your pic is not the MV-105 though, so maybe it’s just something to do with the outer jacket material. Might take a call to Okonite to satisfy your curiosity.
