This questions was brought up on the "Code Question of the Day"

"What are the conductors from a separately derived system to the main disconnect called?"

Charlie Trout's answer was to possibly call them system-entrance or just system conductors. I too cannot find any sections that directly name or reference the conductors other than calling them "phase conductors". I'm not completely sure of the importance of giving these conductors an actual defiintion.

Do you think this merits a code proposal?

Re: Conductors from a SDS

Feeder. All circuit conductors between the service equipment, the source of a separately derived system, or other power supply source and the final branch-circuit overcurrent device.
It looks like the code says that they are feeders.
